1. Overview

If a mobile phone or PC is not connecting to the Ray broadcasted SSID, the issue may occur due to wireless signal problems, saved network profile issues, access control settings, or wireless adapter driver-related problems.

Follow the below troubleshooting steps to identify and resolve the issue.

2. Check Wi-Fi Signal Strength

First, verify the Wi-Fi signal strength of the SSID on the mobile device or PC.

The connection issue may occur due to:

  • Low wireless signal strength
  • Poor signal quality
  • High SNR-related issues
  • Device being too far from the access point

Move the device closer to the access point and try connecting again.

3. Forget and Reconnect to the SSID

If the SSID is password protected, the issue may be due to an old or incorrect saved Wi-Fi profile.

For Windows PC:

  1. Go to Wi-Fi Settings.
  2. Open Manage Known Networks.
  3. Select the Ray SSID.
  4. Click Forget.
  5. Reconnect to the SSID and enter the correct password.

For mobile devices, forget the saved Wi-Fi network and reconnect again.

4. Check Blacklist / Whitelist Configuration

Verify whether the Ray broadcasted SSID has Blacklist or Whitelist access control enabled.

If the Blacklist/Whitelist feature is enabled, check the following:

Case 1: Blacklist/Whitelist was enabled recently

If the issue started around the same time when the Blacklist/Whitelist feature was enabled, then temporarily disable the feature for the affected SSID.

After disabling it, republish the SSID configuration on Ray devices and try connecting again.

Case 2: Blacklist/Whitelist was already enabled

If the feature was already enabled earlier, verify whether the affected client MAC address is correctly added or removed as required.

Check the client MAC address entry in the SSID configuration and make the required changes.

After making changes, republish the SSID configuration on Ray devices.

5. Check Wireless Adapter Driver

If the issue is occurring on a Windows PC or laptop, check the wireless adapter driver status.

If the driver is outdated

Update the wireless adapter driver to the latest available version from the device manufacturer or Windows Update.

If the driver was recently updated

If the issue started after a recent driver update, try rolling back the wireless adapter driver to the previous stable version.

6. Final Step

After completing the above checks, try connecting the device to the Ray broadcasted SSID again.

If the issue is still not resolved, please raise a support case with the Ray Support team for further assistance.
